Q. Are all your hats one size?
A. Many of our hats are one size but there are also many that are sized – small, medium, large and extra large
Q. Where are your hats made?
A. We have hats made in the U.S., Mexico, Sri Lanka and China.
Q. Do you have hats for big heads?
A. Some of our hats fit bigger than others. We also carry some hats in 2XL and 3XL.
Q. Do you have crushable hats?
A. All hats are crushable once! Yes we have some hats that are crushable. They can be packed for travel.
Q. Which of your hats will last the longest?
A. Any of the cloth hats will last longer than the straws. The straws from Mexico will usually last longer than the straws from China.
Q. Can I wash this hat?
A. Most cloth hats can be washed. I personally recommend that hats be washed either by hand (like a sweater) or in the top drawer of the dishwasher. It is best to let the hat air dry in the proper shape. Some hats shouldn’t be washed and dry cleaning can be expensive.
Q. How do I know if a hat fits right?
A. A hat should feel comfortable the moment you put it on. Hats aren’t like shoes they don’t stretch much. If in doubt, always go the larger size. A hat that is a little too big can usually be made to fit but a hat that is too small cannot. If you shake your head from side to side and the hat wobbles then it is too big.
I once bought some hat sizing tape from one of my suppliers. It was simply foam weather stripping. A couple of small pieces (start with 1 inch pieces) of foam weather stripping in the inside as a shim will fit many hat sizing problems.
A hat that is slightly too small can usually be stretched about one half size. I recently purchased a hat stretcher but you can usually put the hat over your knee and stretch it.
Q. Is this a woman’s hat? (Usually a man asking)
A. No – unless it is! Actually all of our hats are unisex and can be worn by men or women. Our focus is on functionality and not fashion.
Q. What are common misconceptions about your hats?
A. Style names – many customers have different names for the same hat. i.e. calling a western hat a Stetson. (Stetson is a brand not a style). I guess it is similar to calling a tissue a kleenex.
B. Price versus Value - Some customers feel the quality of a hat is based on the price, but Outdoor hats are typically less expensive because they are used for function rather than fashion. Sadly, many people pay more when they shop from Fashion based resellers.
C. I don’t look good in hats. But different people look better in different hats – body size, face shape etc. all play a role. People that think they don't look good in a hat just haven't found the right hat style for them.
D. Hats never fit me. (If a person has a very small or very large head then the hats that actually fit may be limited) We carry some hats in 2XL and 3XL but not all manufacturers make them. People with very small heads may need to try children’s sizes. There are hats manufactured to fit everyone but they may not be easy to find or available in every style. We welcome your hat challenge!
E. Brand name confusion. (Many hats are manufactured by a few manufacturers, This is not to say that they do not specify the design etc.)
F. Brand name is better. See above.
G. Chinese products are inferior. There is junk made in many places including China. There is relatively little difference in my U. S. made hat and Sri Lanka made hat except for the price. Not all revenue from an imported hat goes to the country of manufacture. We buy all our products from domestic suppliers. We support “Made in the USA” whenever possible.
